Fabrics Sketchbook

This was my first attempt at creating shapes using a piece of string dipped into ink. I realised when I tried it first that I had pit too much ink on the piece of string. After I had established this, I wiped some off the next time with some tissue and it came out great. I really like how the string creates the vertical lines due to being pulled down and out of the closed book.

With the second attempt, I tried to make it slightly more abstract by randomly splattering ink around the string-made patterns. Even though I like this effect, I wish the patterns I made with the string were wider at the top. I feel that when I do this, it shows the interesting pattern it makes better.

As I was more confident by the third attempt, I decided to use different coloured inks and try making the shapes/patterns at different levels. I really like the combination of colours I used as they're all quite similar. This is because I only used red and blue and made the other two colours by mixing them, varying the amount of each every time.
