In-Class Sketches

Image
In-Class Drawings This is my very first sketch. In the beginning I didn't think it would turn out as good as it did. But although I think it's a good drawing, I think it could've been made more interesting maybe with some other textures. For example, I could have jagged some lines when shading in the letters to create a more aggressive feel to it. This would've worked well because the newspaper article I took it from was about mental health, and in some cases, mental health can cause anger/aggression.  For this drawing, I 'zoomed in' onto a picture in a newspaper article. I knew that the drawing wouldn't be recognisable as there is not enough of the background to be able to tell what it shows. I do like this drawing although this section of the picture was quite small and so maybe my drawing wasn't as accurate because I couldn't make out what some of it was. I sketched, to the best of my ability, what I thought I could see in the image a

Genres of Art

Image
Genres of Art Genre - What it is - What I like about it Minimalism - A very simple art, but usually in large forms, generally furniture. - It shows a somewhat satisfying simplicity. It gives a sense of tranquility. Op Art - Optical effects and illusions that may not be possible to recreate/ make a physical form of in real life. - Has intriguing uniqueness in every piece of artwork, I like the range of different creations because they cannot be predicted.  Pop Art - Is based on modern popular culture, a critical or ironic comment on traditional fine art values. - It uses various techniques to create different textures, it is interesting to me how a texture can be created in 2D using patterns. Realism - It attempts to represent subject matter truthfully. - Has a reliable presentation of real life, is trustworthy. Most artworks show an opinion but it's fascinating to see artwork that has no altered features to suit

Composition

What is Composition? Composition is the structure of a piece of artwork. Structure is very important in art as it is the reason that most art has meaning or gives off emotion. Composition also refers to the combination of the elements in art, e.g. tone, pattern, colour, shape, line, mood. Without these, art would not have much purpose other than to look pretty. Art is mainly about expressing/conveying feelings and emotions to the viewer. It can tell a story about the artist's life or tell the viewer about the artist's mood whilst creating the artwork. Different emotions can be given off by a single piece of artwork simply because everyone interprets things with a different perspective to the last. It can cause an array of emotions at the same time. It could also alter peoples' views on someone or something possibly related to political issues. The effects art can have on people are endless, and art hopefully won't change into anything less than this.
